Welcome to The Sam Houghton Mountain Bike Challenge
The Challenge is a timed mountain bike ride starting and finishing at the Mill Yard, Staveley and covering the Longsleddale, Kentmere & Troutbeck Valleys and taking in Garburn Pass. It is organised in memory of Sam Houghton, a keen mountain biker who sadly lost his battle against cancer and died aged only 22 in May 2006. All proceeds from this event will be donated to Cancer Research UK.

This brings the overall total raised since 2007 for Cancer Research UK to a staggering...
A massive thank you to everyone who has ever ridden the event, stood in the rain/sunshine marshalling, sponsored a rider, baked a cake, bought a raffle ticket, donated a prize, drunk a pint of Mud Sweat & Gears or lent their support in any way at all; this wouldn't have been possible without each and every one of you!
The date for the 2020 event is confirmed as 13th June. Entries will open on Sunday 1st March so keep checking in the new year for updates on how to enter. Look forward to seeing you all there!
